    Re: WMIPRVSE.EXE file corrupt

Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) is a component of the Microsoft® Windows® operating system that provides management information and control in an enterprise environment. By using industry standards, managers can use WMI to query and set information on desktop systems, applications, networks, and other enterprise components. Developers can use WMI to create event monitoring applications that alert users when important incidents occur.

In earlier versions of Windows, providers were loaded in-process with the Windows Management service (WinMgmt.exe), running under the LocalSystem security account. Failure of a provider caused the entire WMI service to fail. The next request to WMI restarted the service.
Beginning with Windows XP, WMI resides in a shared service host with several other services. To avoid stopping all the services when a provider fails, providers are loaded into a separate host process named Wmiprvse.exe. Multiple instances of Wmiprvse.exe can run at the same time under different accounts: LocalSystem, NetworkService, or LocalService. The WMI core WinMgmt.exe is loaded into the shared Local Service host named Svchost.exe.
Note: wmiprvsw.exe is the Sasser worm!

Note: The wmiprvse.exe file is located in the folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem. In other cases, wmiprvse.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm! Check this with Security Task Manager.

    Re: WMIPRVSE.EXE file corrupt

    What is WMIPRVSE.EXE ?
Windows Management Instrumentation or WMI is a part of the Microsoft Windows operating system which provides management information and controls programs in an enterprise environment. Windows Management Instrumentation Provider Service or wmiprvse.exe was primarily introduced in Windows XP platform, and later on in Windows 2003 platform. WMIPRVSE is a host process related to Windows Management Instrumentation or WMI provider services. It was developed to discard of prior concerns of failure of WMI provider service in Windows 2000 platform where failure of a single WMI would cause total failure of all other WMI services. In contrast, only a single WMI provider service will be affected with the new WMIPRVSE program. This eradicates the previous problem of automatic computer restart process when WMI failure occurs in Windows XP and Windows 2003 platforms.

The Wimprvse software is essential for security and stability of the operating system. The operating system requires this program to run smoothly. It is however important to see where the wimprse.exe is situated and what folder it is running from. A Windows operating system that is functioning normally often requires various accounts to run wmiprvse.exe. It is normal to see wmiprvse.exe simultaneously running in the LocalService, NetworkService, and the LocalSystem.

Wmiprvse.exe application is always situated in the systems32 folder of the Windows operating system. The filename and path is C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem. If you happen to observe that wmiprvse.exe running from a different origin, meaning outside the systems32 folder, then there is a huge possibility that it is a Trojan, or a Virus. Numerous kinds of malware hide under the wmiprvse.exe pretext. Users often overlook the possibility of the wmiprvse.exe being a malware since it is a common system process so malware detection may not be detected immediately. The Process Server database is frequently updated, but there may still be discrepancies that are often caused by viruses that hide under valid system file names such as Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). It is best to check running processes and where they are originating from to find out if your computer is infected with a wmiprvse.exe type of malware. Check your system with the use of the Security Task Manager to discover from which folder the program is running from. Plenty of hackers use wmiprvse.exe types of malwares to penetrate security and gain access to other computers. The result can be disastrous ranging from system errors to complete computer operating system failure which causes the computer to crash and not function at all.

If in case you find that your computer is infected with a malicious wmiprvse.exe program, discard of the program and delete it from your system. It may involve having to boot your system into safe mode to manually remove the wmiprvse.exe malware or you can use an antivirus program to aid you with this concern. An antivirus program will of course be a quicker option. You may also perform a Windows system update since there may be new programs that are designed to resolve the exploit that the virus has affected.
