It could be your computer is overheating, as many programs take a lot of processing power.
If you determine that's not the problem, it may be you have a bad memory chip. Once you eliminate that, try this:
- Click Start, then open Control Panel
- Click Performance and Maintenance
- Click System
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section
- Uncheck Automatically Restart in the System failure section
Note that this may prevent the system from restarting, but it can also mask the true problem. As an alternative to this measure, consider what has recently changed on your system. If you have installed new hardware or software, remove it and see if the annoying restart persists. Sometimes downloading the latest driver software from the manufacturer's website will fix hardware incompatibility problems that cause restarts.
Also, it may be your download manager/ accelerator, try disabling or removing it to see if that helps.
hi,
could be lacking memory, goto safe mode and uninstall things, run cleaner....run disk cleanup, also goto more options tab > delete system restore points, this will solve the problem.
Its mainly because of the Virus. which Antivirus you are using ? have you done a full scan ?
It may be a virus because i just realize that i dont have an antiviruse on my computer. How will i get that now if i cant even download?
You can use the someone else PC to download . Or best is run some good online scanner.
To run the online scanner you will need to do the following:
- Open Internet Explorer (Note: Netscape and other browsers will not work with this scanner).
- Point your browser to http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/h...MGHDKVDMSDQLPN
- This will cause your browser to open another window. Under Virus Detection click on the START button. If another window does not open, click the Go button on the page that does display.
- After starting the scan three Security Warning windows will pop up. You will need to click on Yes to each of these in order to run the scan.
- After the scan has completed Symantec will provide a detailed summary of what, if anything, was found on the system.
