Excel's Time Capture ("Insert a static date or time") Function: Is it possible to have it capture times down to the second? *** Excel's Time Capture ("Insert a static date or time") Function: Is it possible to have it capture times down to the second? Greetings! I have just discovered the "Insert a static date or time" function (details below) in Excel and am equally exited and frustrated, due to the fact that I cannot get it to capture the time down to the seconds place. It only goes as far as minutes. Is there a way to customize or otherwise adjust something in either Windows XP or in Excel to allow the capture of 'up-to-the-second' times from within excel using this command? --- Insert a static date or time 1. On a worksheet, select the cell into which you want to insert the current date or time. 2. Do one of the following: -- To insert the current date, press CTRL+; (semi-colon). -- To insert the current time, press CTRL+SHIFT+; (semi-colon). -- To insert the current date and time, press CTRL+; (semi-colon), then press SPACE, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+; (semi-colon). --- Thanks, Rob *** *** |

Re: Excel's Time Capture ("Insert a static date or time") Function: Is it possible to have it capture times down to the second? First, it's important to remember that Excel keeps dates informatios as day fractions. Therefor, to show the value it first needs to be converted like this: Divide el value in seconds (16548) in (60 s / min * 60 min/hr * 24 hr/day) to get =16548/(24*60*60) or =A1/(24*60*60) This result can then be formatted as hh:mm:ss |

Re: Excel's Time Capture ("Insert a static date or time") Function: Is it possible to have it capture times down to the second? Microsoft Excel has the time feature in which you can adjust or customize the way you want to display the time.....you can follow the settings already mentioned by Raine...... it must hopefully work. |
