Problem with Flash Player on Firefox and Vista 64 bit

Hello everybody, for some time I have a problem with my Firefox not necessarily bad, but annoying.

Indeed approximately every two weeks, my Firefox tells me the need for installing macromedia flash player. I reinstalled with the latest version and run. I tried uninstalling Firefox (deleting registry keys + data left in appdata), same for flash player (SysWow64 + in registry), but each time the same worries.

I run on Vista 64, and when I check if Internet Explorer has the same problem and it works perfectly. If someone had an idea.

    Vista 64 SP1
    Windows Update
    Mozilla 3.0.7
    Flash Player 10.xx (last)

Currently, Adobe Flash Player has no support for 64 bit based browsers. If your Firefox is 32 bit, then you can install and use flash; but with Minefield (64 bit Firefox) and IE 64 bit version are not compatible with flash player.

Re: Problem with Flash Player on Firefox and Vista 64 bit

Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.

    Reason

Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms. Adobe is expecting to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following Flash Player 10.

    Solution

To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit operating system, you must run a 32-bit browser.

Re: Problem with Flash Player on Firefox and Vista 64 bit

The only option was to revert to the 32 bit IE that came with Vista ultimate. I came across with this fix, however I think this is for IE and not Firefox.

    For Vista (64 bit):

    1. Open Computer.
    2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
    3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
    4. Open the Flash directory.
    5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
    6. Select Run as Administrator.
    7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
    8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.
