Here is the solution to open ODT (openoffice.org text) files in Microsoft Word :

    Office 2007

If you have Office 2003, installing the Sun ODF Plugin should just work.

    Hello,

You can try an online converter such as Zamzar or Media Convert.

Open Office supports Microsoft Office files from versions 2003 and prior. To get Open Office to read MS WORD 2007 files, you need a converter.

this converter will automatically convert files for you when you double click them, and bring them into open office.

The native format Open Office uses, is .odt. MS WORD will not read this. However, it gives you the option to "save as type" in the save as dialog. If you save it as a .doc, MS word will read that file.

    Dear Friend,

In OpenOffice.org, you can use File > Wizards > Document Converter to convert all the Microsoft Office files in a folder to OOo format. If your main concern is content and you can ignore minor formatting errors, this wizard may be all you need. However, you can get better results if you plan your file sharing.

Hey that was nice information. I was not knowing this option of File > Wizards > Document Converter
Well, I can convert MS document to Open office. But can I convert Open office document to MS easily in the similar way so that people not having Open office can also view them properly. Proper formatting is not as much the necessity and content is important.. except for some rare important documents.
