One of my friend sent me some images of properties and the format is .dat. How do I view these and can I convert them to .jpg. I have Paint Shop Pro and an old version of Coreldraw 4.

There are many programs that can open .dat files as you'll see at the link below.
http://filext.com/file-extension/dat
XnView is an excellent Free image viewer program and can open some .dat image files and can be download here.
Your best solution would be to see if your client could send you those files in a format you're able to open.
Neither solution solves my problem. XNview does not recognise the file extension .dat and there is nothing helpful at filext.com, only trying to sell software unrelated.
Did the client actually send .dat files, or were the attachments converted by the email software? There's a difference.
What email clients are you both using?
Thanks for your perseverence. I am using Outlook Express 6, but I have no idea what my client is using. I am awaiting a response form him.....
The client replied to say that he sent the files via Outlook Express and they are all originally .jpeg files.
I had major PC problems and recovered the data but it is all now in .dat file extensions.
What do you suggest?
What is all in dat extensions? Are you having problems with only email attachments, or is this a more indepth problem with your computer? Some details would be good.
If the files were originally sent as jpeg or jpg files then just try renaming them using that file extension as .jpeg or jpg and then try to open them.
