Try to reinstall windows live messenger. Do system restore. Click on Start =>programs =>accessories =>System Tools =>System Restore. Select a date that is bold and is before you had problems.

If you are using smiley central, uninstall it. And try this:
    • Save and run this file
    • Select your Passport email address
    • Change the Plugin setting to 'No'
    • Click Change
    • Then click Exit
    • Restart your system
    Hope this will help you.

Uninstall windows live messenger completely. To do this, open My Computer and go to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger Select all files and delete them. This will make sure it has completely deleted live messenger. Sometimes when you uninstall it leaves some files. Install messenger again and try to sign in.
