Slow file transfer in MSN messenger

Hello there,
I updated my MSN messenger to 8. and my file transfer rate is very slow. It was fine with messenger 7.5 Can anyone have any solution?

It varies depending on who you are sending it to. In most contacts of mine it goes really quickly, but some go at about 20 - 25 kb/s. Check the default ports for file transfer in messenger. If you are running any peer to peer programs, then close it and try again.

Your connection speed depends on the type of Internet connection that you have. If you use a dial-up connection to the Internet, your connection speed is slower than if you use a high-speed connection. You should go for high speed internet connection.

Check your firewall settings and try to disable it for while. Also ask the contact to check his firewall whom you are communicating. If your ISP uses a firewall or NAT, this might prevent you from connecting directly. Network Address Translator (NAT) prevents a direct connection to the Internet.
