How to Setup USB flash drive security?

Is there a method to protect a flash disk for writing and formatting. For the user to read books that are in Flash, without the deleted or formatted the flash. Knowing that this flash can be used on any machine ?

Some models of USB flash drives have a switch to prohibit the writing and formatting. But simply changing the position of the switch so that the key can again be changed. simply set the switch on the read-only mode.
