    Hi,

I had the exact same problem, what I had to do is, go to Windows/Application Data/Identities/Microsoft/Outlook Express, find the dbx
Then delete that file. And make sure your outbox is empty. Just going to start/search/files or folders, typing folders.dbx, renaming it folders.old, did not fix my problem either, as Microsoft's database tells you to do. I think what happens is the dbx folder gets too large.

    Hi,

The usual cause of this error is a missing or damaged folders.dbx file. Either that or it is using a read only attribute.

Here's the solution to fix this bug:

    • Click Start
    • then Find
    • then click Files or Folders.
    • In the Named box, type folders.dbx.
    • In the Look In box, click your main hard disk (this is usually drive C), and then click Find Now.
    • Right-click the Folders.dbx file, and then click Rename.
    • Type folders.old, and click OK.
    • Start Outlook Express again. This creates a new Folders.dbx file automatically.

Re: Error : 0x800c0131 "The message could not be sent" in Outlook Express

    Dear,

I have a intermittent error in the network with the use of Outlook Express 6.

Some machines are showing the message below when trying to send the message:

"Unknown error. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Secure (SSL): No, No the error: 0x800c0131"

Reinstalled Outlook and even the machine, the problem is resolved after a while more returns. Already used the Stinger and I also have antivirus on all stations and did not find anything.

Does anyone have any idea of this and cause a definitive solution?

    Thank you already,
