There are so many Portable version of Browsers are available on the net, which you can use from your USB. But Xenocode is an new Postable app which help you to run applications including Safari, Internet Explorer, and other desktop and web-based apps like Google Talk, Gimp, and Adobe Reader. Unlike traditional software applications, Xenocode WebApps do not require any software to be installed and allow multiple application versions to run side-by-side on any version of Windows.

Xenocode requires no setup, configuration, clients, or device drivers, insulates applications against conflicts, and runs existing applications seamlessly on Windows Vista and locked-down desktops.

You don't have to lease server space or keep your home computer always on to access a personal web server—you can run a web, FTP, and database server straight from a USB drive. A slim web server package called XAMPP fits on a USB stick and can run database-driven webapps like the software that powers Wikipedia, MediaWiki. Almost two years ago you learned how to set up your "personal Wikipedia" on your home web server to capture ideas and track document revisions in a central knowledge repository. Today we'll set up MediaWiki on your flash drive for access on any Windows PC on the go.

A word on security: The XAMPP web server package is intended for web developers to use while building web sites, so by default, the passwords are blank and configuration is not secure. Running server software opens up a port on your computer, which in and of itself is a security risk. Getting this set up requires getting your hands dirty editing configuration files. If you're not comfortable with the risks and implications of this solution but still want your own wiki, I highly recommend the free, hosted, PBWiki. Also check out the nifty TiddlyWiki for a less setup-intensive wiki-on-a-thumb-drive alternative.

Re: Run Google Chrome, IE, Firefox & Safari from USB

A good way to run applications is to use portable applications. So what are portable applications?

A portable application is a computer program that you can carry around with you on a portable device and use on any Windows computer. When your USB flash drive, portable hard drive, iPod or other portable device is plugged in, you have access to your software and personal data just as you would on your own PC. And when you unplug the device, none of your personal data is left behind.

Benefits of running applications from USB:
Carry your web browser with all your favorite bookmarks
Carry your calendar with all your appointments
Carry your email client with all your contacts and settings
Carry your instant messenger and your buddy list
Carry your whole office suite along with your documents and presentations
Carry your antivirus program and other computer utilities
Carry all your important passwords and account information securely

Some sample applications available for the portable device are like:
    Office Software
    Email/Calendar/ToDo Programs
    Text and Voice Messengers
    Media Tools (Audio / Video)
    Graphics Viewers and Image Editors
Browsers and Web Tools (FTP, Feedreaders, Torrent clients…)
    Security Software
    Games
    Other Portable Utilities
    Developer Tools (Techies Only)
    All-In-One Packages
    Operating Systems

Re: Run Google Chrome, IE, Firefox & Safari from USB

This evening I have uploaded a new version of the TrafficCamNZ application to the iTunes Application Store for approval by Apple. It contains the following new features:
Added alphabetical index keyed on the first 5 characters of camera descriptions to the main camera list screen easier and faster navigation
Added alphabetical index keyed on the first 5 characters of the All Images list screen for easier and faster navigation * Minor change to preferences for the URL to load the XML file. Removed the “x” to clear the text - I accidentially cleared out the URL too many times!
Added check to see if the last XML update was within the last 7 days. This will speed up the application start time by not downloading the XML file every time the application is started.
Optimised tableView performance as recommended by Apple for table cell row height, refer iPhone SDK release notes v2.2
