outlook 2007 stops working while checking data file

I run outlook 2007 on my Vista Ultimate tablet. After over six months of use I am now unable to open outlook because it states a data file did not close properly. It attempts to 'check' the problem during which time Outlook stops working and shuts down. This occurs even when I disable my antivirus software (Spyware Doctor). I have also removed other potential contributors to the problem (the sync program to my ATT Tilt). Anyone have any mor ideas?

Re: outlook 2007 stops working while checking data file

Hi I had this problem moving from an XP machine to another Vista machine - Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007. I think I got it fixed by changing the owner of the file. Seems the problem was that the old owner account from the original machine was not the same as the one on the new machine even though I was using the same name and so I didn't have permission to update the outlook data file. I did this: Right click the partition in <My> Computer, select Properties, click Security tab, select Advanced button, click Owner tab, select Edit... button, select 'change owner to:' whoever you are, and *Important* check box that says: 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects'. It Might be Worth trying it

    1. In windows xp, Go to Control panel and open Mail.
    2. Go to Profiles and create a new one. Click the Add button to set up a new one
    3. Just follow the wizard. just enter all the info for you email account.
    3. When you are done make sure that the profile to be used when opening outlook is set to the new email profile you just created.

you will need to redownload all your emails . Next time make sure you properly closed Outlook to avoid it to happened again.
