| No .avi video playing on Windows Media Player 11
Hi I have installed windows vista previously i was using windows xp . When i play a .AVI files into my Windows Media Player 11. On my previous Windows XP it played with no problem. Since I'm very new to Window Vista I wonder if anybody can help me out and tell me how I could fix this problem. Thanks for the help .  |

You are most likely missing codecs. Download and install K-Lite Codec Pack Full, you should be good to go.

The AVI format is just a container for the audio and video which can be encoded in a number of different ways. To playback you need to have a CODEC installed that matches the encoding method used in the AVI file. You could check the microsoft media player web site and download the needed codec there and addon to the media player as well. The most common type of AVI video encoding being used today is DivX or Xvid, and you can downlaod these codecs for free. |
