Error says "Cannot connect to skype, When placing a call, for the first few moments of the call, skype seems to work fine, but after some time line goes dead in the middle of placing the call. i checked my internet service and it's working fine. i have spent hours in troubleshooter and sent support email but no luck. Can anyone else help.

    hi,
Try to update SKYPE if your firewall is updated.Close your current Skype by clicking in system try Skype icon and choosing “Quit” from there if needed. go to firewall in programs and delete skype. Run Skype and allow connecting. With SP2 firewall users may get affected by this.Disabling external firewall will enable XP firewall by default. if you disable any other firewall XP firewall will now block your connections. So remove Skype from XP firewall program list.

    hi,
If you've got DSL it should work. Perhaps you have a setting or something that isn't allowing access. I'm certainly not much good when it comes to these things, but I wonder if you have gone to the Skype site and checked their troubleshooting or help files. Sometimes they have a step by step procedure for recurring problems that people have.

    Re: Cannot connect on skype

Try this to slove the problem :

    - login as a local administrator in Safe mode (not Safe mode with networking , just plain safe mode)

    - Go To device manager & uninstall the NIC ( disregard any error messages)

    - reboot into normal mode & let windows detect the NIC .

    - Reboot once again to normal mode.

other than that the Hijack this Log looks clean, you may want to try & rename the Hosts file in case it is overriding any DNS settings.

    C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
