    hello.
I can run money 2005 on Vista Ultimate. Here is how I process or install money 2005 on vista:
    1. start the installation of Money
    2. do the update when it is requested
    3. go to in C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Money 2005 and run "sample. Mny
    4. open money / create account
    5. close money
    6. click money on the icon "Open as administrator
    7. normally, an update of money will be launched (about 10mn)
    8. start money again
    9. take money from the backup file (. Mbf) and follow the instruction.

I had money before 2001 on xp but not run it on vista. to install Money 2005 on Vista was a bit laborious at first, but now everything is back to normal.
    hoping you have helped.

If you run Microsoft Money 2005, there is a mandatory update which needs to be installed on first run. There have been known to be problems in the automatic installation of this. If you experience problems with the install, then you should right click the Microsoft Money program on the Start Menu, and select the 'Run as administrator' option (see image below). This allows the update to install, after which, the program can be run normally

Money 2005 under Vista Home Premium also gives no problems but asothers have said let it update before converting a data file from a previous version of Money. Locate Sample.mny in the Money program files folder, and run that as administrator. Leave it open for a while, and closed it. Then reboot You want Money to update to 14.0.120.1105. Then you should be able to open your Money file that you have copied into your Documents folder.

The next things to try are to check whether: Create a new administrator account on your system, and try running Money from that user, let the download happen and then switch back to the original account (you can delete this 'temporary' account if it works. You have got a valid TEMP environment variable (Control Panel->System->Advanced->Environment Variables) - check it points to a 'real' location on your machine (i.e. the directory exists) Assuming you have more than 100MB hard disk space free, check you're not using an account with a quota on it (Open Windows Explorer, right click on the drive with the program installation on and then select the 'quota' tab (not present in all versions of Windows XP).
Reset all of the Internet Explorer settings to their default.
