How to play mp3 on ubuntu

Hi friends,
I have recently install Ubuntu 8.10 as my operating System. i want to play my mp3 songs on Ubuntu. I was using totem movie player in Windows it was working fine but not working in Ubuntu 8.10. Can anyone help me out with this issue ?

I was also facing the same issue try to Install gstreamer plugins for my totem player and i am able to play all my videos and audio.

I would rather suggest you to Install VLC Player for you.It works very fine with Ubuntu 8.10.

But VLC Player only plays Videos what about my MP3 Songs will it work or not.

Yes in VLC player Mp3 Songs also work.Currently i am using it.

I use VLC too. Just try to play an mp3 and ubuntu will tell you that you don't have some codesc or w/e. It will ask you if you want to install them and just say yes and synaptic will do the job for you.
