How to read a file PPS?
Files PPS slideshows are created with the PowerPoint software. It's just PPT files with an extension of the file name was changed in PPS. You can open them with one of the following software:

    1. With Microsoft PowerPoint,
    2. With the Microsoft PowerPoint viewer for free, read-only: Powerpoint Viewer
    3. XnView with the software, free, provided that this file contains only images: Xnview
    4. With free collection and free OpenOffice: OpenOffice.org

    • OpenOffice can also edit files PPS. It supports very well the MAP (as well as Microsoft PowerPoint).
    • It has its own recording format, lighter, more open and documented.
    • It opens the PPS as if it was a PPT, then simply type F5 to see the slideshow.
    • It manages much less effective than Powerpoint, so complex effects will not necessarily when watching the show.

use powerpoint to open the file.

Technically there is no difference between PPT and PPS files. You can rename the extensions whenever you want and the presentation file will remain the same.

The difference lies in how PowerPoint treats them:

    - By default, PPT files open in edit mode within PowerPoint allowing you to use all the menus and commands.

    - By default, PPS files open in slideshow (play) mode and you see no PowerPoint interface. When the presentation finishes or you manually exit using tthe ESC key, PowerPoint also quits.

You can also edit a PPS file without changing the extension using either of these options:

    * Just drag and drop the PPS file from Windows Explorer into an empty PowerPoint window.

    * Launch PowerPoint and open a PPS using the File | Open option to edit a presentation.

    * Right-click a PPS file and choose Open With... | PowerPoint in the context menu.
