    Windows 7 in Virtual machine

    Hi friends,
I am very much confused about which software to use as Virtual PC software for Windows 7. I need an advice regarding Sun's VirtualBox and Microsoft Virtual PC ,which one would run faster if i install on my System.

    Following are my PC configuartion

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz
    2 GB RAM.
    120GB HDD.
    512Mb Graphic Card.

I have tried to use with both of the software, but i prefer to go with Sun's Virtual Box.

To make sure that you get the best speed out of it, before you start it up and install Windows do this:

    • Go to the Settings window.
    • Select the Hard Disks item
    • Check Enable SATA Controller
    • Change the Slot drop-down for your virtual disk to SATA Port 0.

Your will get faster disk Access as compared to IDE.

Yes it won't run if you haven't install the VBox Guest Additions and this won't run under Windows 7 without a little cheating.

Follow things are need to be done for it :-

    1. With the virtual machine running, mount the VBox Guest Additions CD image

    2. When the autorun dialog appears, select Open folder to view files .

    3. Right-click the VBoxWindowsAdditions file and choose properties.

    4. Click the Compatibility tab.

    5. Tick Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose Windows Vista in the drop-down then click OK.

Now you would be able to run Windows 7 through Virtual machine.
