Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the world leader in digital imaging technology, today announces the release of PICVideo Version 4 for M-JPEG video compression and decompression. This release delivers the first Motion JPEG video codec optimized specifically for performance on 64-bit Windows systems, fully engaging the speed and throughput of its user’s system.
Backed by image compression experts and the first-class professional support team at Pegasus Imaging, PICVideo compresses and decompresses M-JPEG video files better and faster than any other available codec. It is ideal for viewing Motion JPEG files, such as those captured with digital cameras or cell phones, using Windows Media Player. M-JPEG is also used in video editing applications because it describes each individual frame completely. The PICVideo M-JPEG Codec includes a Microsoft Video for Windows interface and a Microsoft DirectShow Transform Filter interface. It is the only codec available that is optimized for both 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems.
“Because of its speed and features, our PICVideo codec is the ultimate addition for any company migrating their video viewing and editing products to 64-bit Windows systems,” says Paul Firth, product manager at Pegasus Imaging.
The highlight of today's PICVideo v4 release is optimizations for 64-bit Windows systems. PICVideo v4 also adds a feature that detects if a user has English, German, Spanish, French, or Japanese language packs installed on their machine. Once detected, the configuration screen is shown in their preferred language and the user is directed to localized pages for purchasing a license on the Pegasus Imaging website.
Companies creating video viewing or editing software can license PICVideo codecs for distribution with their products. Current PICVideo customers include Avid Technology, Pinnacle Systems, Saba Software, and Sarnoff. Please contact a Pegasus representative for details on partnering with Pegasus to bundle or license PICVideo.
