Basic application you think you must have?

    Hi,
I just want to know what applications you think you must have after a fresh install of the XP or any other windows Operating system?

Here are some applications I think I must install. LEt me know what you guys think about this?

    1. A good antivirus (free) AVG

    2. SpywareBlaster: An excellent spyware-prevention tool. SpywareBlaster does not repair/remove anything. Instead, it configures popular browsers so that spyware/malware can't install in the first place. Compatible with IE, Mozilla, and Firefox, this application is among the very first things I install on a clean PC.

    3. Firefox: A great alternative browser, and it's less hacked/attacked than Internet Explorer.

    4. Trillian: The ultimate all-in-one instant messenger/IRC client.

    5. OpenOffice: Why pirate MS's pricy office suite when you can enjoy the same functionality for free!

    6. Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal: Got spyware? If you need to rid your PC of unwanted guests, these two tools are considered the best.

    here are some more applications
    1. Adobe Flash Player

    2. Microsoft DirectX 9.0C

    3. Zone Alarm.

After installing Zone Alarm, make sure that the Windows Firewall is disabled:

Right click on Local Area Network, select properties, right click on your method of connecting to the internet, select properties, select advanced tab, click on the settings button, select off, and finally tell the system ok.

    Now, download:

    • Spybot Search and Destroy
    • Ad Aware

Finally, obtain and install a good anti virus program. Any of the following three will work well (I personally use AVG Anti-Virus on all of my PCs):
