No video with windows media player

I am using P4 and windows media player to watch some of my .avi files but the problem is I cant see the Video it gives me only sound.
Does anybody knows about this problem What should I need to do for this?
Any help?

You're missing the video codec for viewing that particular file.As I recall Diet Kaza comes with
a video codec bundle.You can also download more off the internet.Other codecs such as DivX bundle are available as a free downlaod.

Ok, even though I already had the divx codec installed, for some reason I had to re-install it and now it's working again. Hope this helps someone else out there

I had the exact same problem. Thanks to you I knew where to look. I opened the CCC went to Video - Video Basics. Video Presets was set to Custom. I just changed it to Home and everything works again. Didn't have to reinstall or anything.

Try playing the videos with VLC videolan.org

You should try to avoid codec packs as you will likely install stuff you really don't need.

And if VLC isn't your cup o tea, try a program called Gspot found at headbands.com/gspot/

this will inform you on what codec is needed to play your video
