Directx 10 in Windows XP SP 2

I have installed Directx 10 in windows XP SP2 but it still shows Directx 9.0c

Why ???????

Microsoft did not release DirectX 10 for Windows XP because of the complexies involved or may be they want people to upgarde. Its Business. So legally you cannot install Direct X 10 on Windows XP
