On the occasion of the Macworld Expo, currently taking place in San Francisco, the team unveiled its Skype phone software over the Internet version 2.8 beta for Mac OS X. On the menu, several new features such as shared display screen remote sensor networks integrated WiFi or a better management of chat sessions.
The manager of WiFi networks automatically recognizes Boingo hotspots and once connected, the mode of flow remains based on payment per minute of Skype and it is therefore not required to subscribe to a monthly supply network Boingo.
When activated, the sharing of remote screen replaces traditional video stream by the user's desktop, in this sense, this feature does not require a special version of Skype and can be used with people with versions of Windows or Linux software.
Another novelty in this version provides the ability to choose the degree of importance of the cats and place them in a dedicated menu for quick access. Skype 2.8 beta also adds a feature of micro-blogging called Mood Message chat and allows you to view the status of all their contacts. In the way of web service Twitter, it is possible to track the status of some friends in particular. Note also the largest avatars (256 x256), more icons and the possibility of private notes to his contacts in order to add more information about them.
