Need help Converting xls files to xlsx in Excel 2007

Hello,
Recently I installed MS Office 2007. Now i am facing Problem in opening several older excel files (xls) that I have saved as "xlsx" files

The link that you gave me only allows older versions of Office to open 2007 files. But i am using Excel 2007. another problem is that i have opened numerous spreadsheets that were created in earlier versions(xls) and then saved them as "xlsx". Problem is the max number of rows & columns never increases to the million+ rows that are standard in 2007 files. How do I increase the rows and columns to the new max ? Thanks

To apply the changes You must close the file after saving it and then re-open.
