What is .DAA file and how to use it

Hey Friends,
I recently downloaded some audio files and found their extension as .DAA. I have never heard of this format and am finding it difficult to understand what are they and how to use them.

Any suggestions or advice are welcome.

Hi,
Basically .DAA files are versions of ISO files, opening them in an ISO viewer such as PowerISO or MagicISO will allow you to see the contained files.

Double click it in MagicISO and it should play.

Direct Access Archive, or DAA file, is a proprietary file format for disk image files. It supports advanced features such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes.

.DAA is a format for an CD/DVD image file i.e, ISO image. .DAA supports some advanced features, such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes (similar to .RAR and other compression formats).

It can be handled directly just like other formats, such as an ISO image and BIN, but is currently only usable by PowerISO software. Popular disk image mounting programs such as Alcohol 120% and DAEMON Tools currently do not support the mounting of DAA images.

Advantages of DAA file format:

• Can be mounted directly like an ISO or BIN file
• Allows for compression saving space and making it easier to download
• Can be password protected
• Can be split into multiple smaller files

Disadvantages of DAA file format:

• Can only be mounted with PowerISO (Windows only).
• As a proprietary format, it cannot be read by any free application.

Following are the steps to convert DAA file to ISO

• Run MagicISO
• Click "Tools"->"Converter"
• Choose daa file as source file.
• Enter iso file name as output file.
• Choose "Standard ISO Image file(.ISO)" as output format.
• Click "convert"
