How to remove Index.dat files in Windows ?

Index.dat files are hidden files on your computer that contain all tracks of your online activity, where have you been on internet and what sites you visited. Index.dat Analyzer is free tool to view and delete contents of hidden index.dat files.

There are numerous utilities to delete the index.dat files however most are shareware in the $20-30 price range and most require a
rebooting since the index.dat is locked and can not be deleted while Windows is running. There are a number of suggestions posted on how to delete manually, such as logging in as another user and then deleting YOUR index.dat files, logging out etc. These seem to work some of the time.

However, I located this free utility for you that seems to be elegant in design and allows you to delete these files without a reboot or
login.
