    How to Disable Autoplay In Windows XP ?

    I Recently Purchase a New Pc and Everything seem To except This Autoplay Feature In Windows XP which Really Annoys Me. Everytime I insert a New Cd It Start Playing It without asking Me. Even When I just copy some Video files on MY Pc.So Can anyone please tell me is there a way to Disable this feature. I am Hoping There Should be Ways to do it. Any Help would Be Appreciated. Thanks a lots in Advance.

    To Disable Autoplay in Windows XP


    1. Click on Start button

    2. Select Run A "Run dialog box" will popup like this

    3. In Run dialog box type 'GPEDIT.MSC' (without quotes) where in picture "Regedit.exe" is written.

    4. Gpedit ( Group policy Editor ) will pop up like This.

    5. In Gpedit Go to Computer Configuration In Left Pane

    6. Then Click Administrative Templates ---> System.

    7. In Right Pane Locate the entry for "Turn autoplay off" and Double Click it.This will open:


      Disabling Autoplay

    8. Select the "Disable" Radio option.

    9. Click apply and Ok to Save Changes.


    Note: Sometimes you Need to Restart your Pc to See Changes in Effect.

    Thanks philips,can we also use these to enable it.i mean we can use these method to enable autoplay feature in Windows XP ? Thanks a lot for your Help.
