Problem downloading updates for NoteBook and Desktop Computers

Today the little MS update icon popped up on my 2 home computers.

I have Toshiba Laptop computer and a desktop that I recently built.
Both computers access the Internet through a 2-Wire Modem that allows me to connect without running wires all over my house.My problem is the laptop took over 6 hours to download these updates while my desktop downloaded them almost instantly, about 30 seconds!
Normally I don't keep both systems on instead of that I keep one at a time.
But my notebook always takes hours for these updates. And this only seems to happen when I download MS updates.
Anyone have an explanation for this?

Your Laptop must be downloading the bunch of updates whereas desktop computers must be downloading only required updates, this may be depends upon the system's patch history.

You can do one thing, download that update through Desktop computer and then transfer those with any external memory drive to the Laptop computer.
I am Knowing that it isn't that much impressive but give some time to come up with favorable response.
