Re: AVD Update File to another computer

A backup plugin is actually an XML file that contains information about the specific application it was created for. This allows Backup4all to recognize exactly what to back up from your computer in order to have that application's configuration files and other data backed up. The backup plugin doesn't work separately, has to be installed in Backup4all.

How to download and install the AVG backup plugin
Right click the following AVG.xml file and select Save Target As (Save Link As in FireFox): AVG.xml
After the download is finished, follow these steps to install the AVG plugin in Backup4all:
Open Backup4all and select Tools->Install Plugin.
Browse to the location where the plugin was saved (usually the desktop), select AVG.xml and click Open.

How to use the AVG backup plugin
After the plugin is installed, in Backup4all in the Predefined Backup drop-down list AVG will be included too. To create a new backup job for AVG based on this plugin:
Open Backup4all and select File->New Backup Wizard (Ctrl+N).
On the General page enter a name for the backup in the Name field.
From the Predefined Backup drop-down list, select AVG. Click Next.
On the Sources page, you will see a list of the items to be backed up. You can clear (un-check) the items that you do not want to back up. Click Next.
On the Destination page, select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
On the Type page, select the backup type. The Full or Mirror type is recommended.
Click Finish. The new backup job will appear in the backup list.
Press Backup (F6) to start backing up AVG.

You can also create your own plugins by using Backup4all Plugin Creator.

To create a backup plugin for a specific program, the user needs to have Backup4all Plugin Creator and another application that will monitor the program installation. Using the information from the monitoring program, Backup4all Plugin Creator will generate an XML file (backup plugin) that can be loaded in Backup4all as a Predefined Backup . Please note that advanced computer skills are required to create a backup plugin.
