How to remove or uninstall Windows Messenger from Windows XP

I am having Windows XP on my computer and would like to remove Windows Messenger from my computer? Is it possible for me to remove it completely?

Go to Group Policy console by typing "gpedit.msc" at the command prompt. Now go to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Messenger. Right-click on "Do Not Allow Windows Messenger To Be Run" and click on "Properties". Select "Enabled" and then click OK. Right-click on "Do Not Automatically Start Windows Messenger Initially" and click on "Properties". Select "Enabled" and then click OK. Close the Group Policy console.
