    boot.ini file problem

I recently upgraded my OS from Windows 2000 to XP. Now when I boot I have the option to boot to either Windows 2000 or XP. As XP is set as default after 30 seconds the machine runs fine , but it's irritating. When I look at the boot.ini file in msconfig I see the windoes 2000 line in the
    file: WINNT=Microsoft Windows 2000....etc.,
but there's no way to delete it. I highlight that line and press delete but nothing happens. And I don't see any way to edit the boot.ini from msconfig. Any suggestions?

The Solution to your Problem is really Simple .
    Here is the Solution,
You have to just edit the BOOT.INI File.
    which is located at "c:\boot.ini"
Here what you have to do is
    1. Click on "MYCOMPUTER" icon.

    2. In the "ADDRESS BAR" Type "C:\boot.ini" (Without quotes") and Press Enter

    3. The "Boot.ini" File will POPUP on Screen.

    4. Edit the File and Save it(if Required overwrite it).

    5. Now your are done Just Restart the PC.

Hope It will solve your your problem.

Boot.ini is in the drive where the operating system is installed. If your OS is in different drive, than type accordingly and you will get the boot.ini file. Like for eg: Drive letter:\boot.ini

If you have dual boot on 2 different partitions, then try both of the drive letters and you will get that file in any one of the drive.

If your OS is only in C drive and still you are not getting the boot.ini file, then try with all the drive letters that you have and you will get it on one of the drive. Your boot.ini might be in the different drive than where the OS is installed because previously you might have installed an OS in that drive and then deleted it. So the boot.ini file remained in that drive.
