Video converter for a JVC camcorder

Here is my problem: I was offered a camcorder with Hard Drive Everio Camcorder JVC Everio GZMG57. The software supplied with this camcorder is compatible with Windows XP or Vista or on my PC that I have Windows 2000 pro. How do I put my videos on my PC and be able to watch ?
Thank you in advance for your invaluable help

Since the video editing software is not appropriate, use another. On your PC, you have normally Movie Maker. For Phase 1:
    1) First, you install the driver supplied with the unit. This driver will allow the PC to recognize your camcorder.
    2) You relies camcorder to the PC via the USB cable
    3) With Movie Maker: in menu "Capture video", you click on "Import video, you selected your camcorder (considered device) and you import the video files.

It is true that JVC uses a proprietary format (MOD) in particular on the DVD

First of all, thank you for your responses. I looked, I do not have movie maker on my PC but can I download ...
Files on the camcorder, they are in me, I do not know if you're talking about.
    And for my pc config:
74.5 GB capacity with 52.4 free and as Windows 2000 Pro software. Do you need anything else?

Re: Video converter for a JVC camcorder

Hello, stinger, you can just transfer the video from your camcorder to your computer and then use a video converter to convert it to wmv or avi, which can be viewable on windows media player.
