Go to the start or windows icon on the bottom left, click with the left button on your mouse.
In the entry box enter http://www.yahoo.com and press enter.
If the browser comes up you have internet.
Go to the tools of Internet explorer, then go to the internet options
    heading.
Press delete and either delete all or at least delete temporary files and cookies.
If this all works, update your antivirus and do a full scan.
If you don't have an antivirus you can download avg for free.

Hello noko23, thanks for your suggestion. I tried to launch a site from run command as you said, but I am still getting this error 'ieuser.exe-Application error!' and IE does not work. I had deleted the cookies from the folder itself. Dont know what is temporary internet files! and have not deleted them. Is it necessary? Also have scanned with Symantec and there is no virus.

Before I can go for this, my friend suggested me Opera. I installed and tried it and no such problem in Opera. So I think I'll stick to this browser until the next problem appears . Atleast better than IE (whatever version).

I am hearing a lot about Chrome these days. I have seen this browser on my friends computer and it looks good. Does not occupy much space for unnecessary options on screen, thats what I liked most.

So far no problem with Opera . Will also have a hand on Chrome when I'll get it. Anyways, thanks for your response friend
