Software for Cutting down the size of MP3 files for mobile - Compression software

Hi,
I want a software to put the mp3 songs to my mobile phone but the songs should be re sized i mean if the song is around 6mb it should cut down to 1mb or even lesser.
I know this is possible but don't know how to do this?
Any help?
