Window Explorer crashes when right clicking

I am facing a very strange issue with Windows Explorer, its crashing whenever I right click a file / shortcut / etc. I get the "windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to close" error message and then windows explorer restarts.

Anyone knows how to fix this problem?

I think you need to install OS again. If you don't want to reinstall the OS there are many other shortcuts available which you can use. There are many guides and tips over these sections.

If I am not wrong then you have Win XP and might recently installed SP2 on your system. Windows File Protection seems to be blocking the update of certain files. This might be the reason for you to get this error. Only solution to this is install SP2 in Safe Mode.

These errors are caused by 3rd party shell extensions that are not functioning properly. These shell extensions are responsible for creating the options you'll see on the menu when you right-click a file using Windows Explorer. Some 3rd party applications will add their own "action" to this menu such as Scan with Norton Antivirus, Winzip, etc and this can cause problems.

To solve this problem download free utility ShellExView or ShellMenuView. It will let you view & disable shell extensions.

I think you need to install OS and anti virus properly. Before you start working with windows please check the virus status and start to work........
