Special characters are not displayed in Word

    Hi,

I have a double problem with word 2003.

    1) The menu "special characters" does not appear, although the button exists. The custom option is grayed.

    2) When I want to put a footnote with a custom symbol, the following message appears:
"one copy insert a symbol may be executed at a time".

Please tell me if you can help me.

This method seems to me complicated. With the first method, execute, there is no record office, with the second shortcut, there is no area in view. On the other hand, what is an insertion point? After repair, I will always open word with this shortcut?
