Task duration - start set by SF, finish set by FF. Can it be done & how ?
I would like to create a task in project 2003 with the following start and finish criteria start date set by the finish date of an earlier task finish date set by the finish date of a later task This task will have 1 resource assigned to it. I want to be able set the work independently of the duration of this task. Can this be done ? Reg. |

Well I don't think that this task can be set using Project 2003. However can you explain me what you want to set in this task and are you talking about Gantt Chart for setting the task? |

| Hi SwitchBlade, thanks for your reply.
You're right, I'm working in the Gantt Chart. We run lots of small projects. (3-6months from begining to end) There are a few project start up tasks that run before the customer provides us with as order. Once we accept the order, there is an "Oversight" task we run from the end of the "order acceptance task" until the end of "customer acceptance". After this there are a number of tasks we run to close the project. So I would like to have the "Oversight" task start when the "Order Acceptance" task finishes and finish when the "Customer Acceptance" task finishes. Is that possible or do we have to resort to VBScript or such like ? Reg. |

| Re: Task duration - start set by SF, finish set by FF. Can it be done & how ?
I also have a question... Suppose A and B is working on the same project. On a particular date say for example 12/Aug/2009, A starts working on a task 'x' and B starts working on task 'y'. 'x' will take only 1.1 day but 'y' will take 2.2 days. After completing the task 'y' A has to join with B for doing task 'y'. So my problem is, when i am allocating some % (say for example 25 %) of "A"'s work for task 'y' , office project is showing over allocation on 12/Aug/2009. How will i rectify it. Please help me. |
