installing sp3 fails

When I try to install SP3 it fails. It says "an internal error occurred"
I tried installing it in safe mode and that didn't work either.

Seems that you have a windows ID product that is not correct

Determine whether the following entries are logged in the Svcpack.log file:211.890: IsSPBetaKey:pLA->lpVtbl->GetProductID Failed: 0x80004005

These entries indicate that incorrect product ID information in the registry is causing the issue.

the product ID in my computer properties doesn't match what is in my registery and I only have one key that resembles what the microsoft page cites. i was thinking about just changing or adding a registry key so that they will match but there is the digitalproductid which is in hex. the digitalproductid does have the productid inside it, i could convert the product id from my properties page to hex and replace the part of the digitalproductid that had the product id but i don't know if the parts of the digitalproductid that doesn't match the productid are like check characters or something.
