Codec required to run my videos

I am facing problems from quiet couple of days with my Panasonic SDR-H20 SD/HDD Hybrid Camcorder.

I like to watch camcorder videos on my pc and that too at full screen. But from some days I can see some kind of horizontal lines. Also I can play videos in winamp, but not in windows media player. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I want to ask you all that is there any codec available that can run my videos properly?

I am really confused with what you are saying. Do you want to say that videos can play in winamp as normal but getting horizontal lines in windows media player? Please clear me so that I can help you properly.

I mean I cannot play videos in windows media player at all but it plays in winamp with some horizontal lines on it.
