    Copy & paste the video file in a new folder then change its extension

    Right click on any video file with the .mov extension & rename it from the .mov file to .avi file.

    Another thing is you can try free softwares like Mediacoder or SUPER to convert the .mov to .avi file. Just google for it.

    MOV files not supported by Windows Movie Maker

    The video I have downloaded from my digital camera is in MOV format which Windows Movie Maker does not seem to support. Is there a way of converting the video to a format that WMM likes or do I have to use a different editor?

    You need a program called MPlayer. You can download it for free. It doesn't use an installer. Unzip the files and run it from the extracted folder.

    1. Download MPlayer and extract the files.
    2. Open notepad and type

    Code:
    "%~d0\%~p0mencoder" -oac pcm -ovc lavc -ffourcc DIVX -o "%~1.avi" %1
    @pause
    save this as "mov2avi.bat" file into the MPlayer directory.

    3. Drop the mov files one at a time onto mov2avi.bat
