Windows Server 2008 and RAID Storage Managers

    Hi all,

I am having trouble getting RAID Storage Managers to see any controllers
    on two different RAID servers.

Both are Dell machines, both running 4 physical drives as two RAID 1
drives. For RAID controllers, is an Adaptec CERC SATA 1.5/6ch on an
older Dell Precision 650, the second is a Dell SAS 6/IR Host Bus
Adapter. So each uses different RAID Storage Manager Software under
Windows, one uses the older Adaptec version, the other the newer Dell
    RAID Storage Manager by LSILogic.

I verified controllers are on latest firmware, drivers are current.
Both sets of RAID are optimal, no errors being reported. Both are
running Windows Server 2008 with latest patches.

In both cases, the RAID Storage Manager under Windows does not see any
controller. But they are obviously there and working fine. I noticed
both use Java version 5 (it's a subdirectory in the install directory),
which is quite old. Is this old Java somehow prevented from seeing the
controller in the system under Windows Server?

Any light anyone can shed on this dilemma will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I solved it, at least for the newer PC. I determined the specific LSI
controller model number (LSISAS1068E), went the LSI's site and found the
latest version of the RAID Storage Manager. I noticed it had both a
client and server install (i.e. more options), which is probably why the
old Dell version fails. This newer version sees the RAID Controller fine!
