System Tray Icons' Tooltip Hidden - Why?

Hi,

with Windows Server 2003 something strange is happening on any machines I
have:

All System Tray tooltips are displayed *behind* the task bar! I can only get
a glimpse of them when I try keeping the mouse pointer at the upper edge of
the System Tray programs' icons.

These are my settings:

* Lock the taskbar
* DON'T auto-hide the taskbar
* Keep the taskbar on top of other windows
* DON'T group similar taskbar buttons
* Show Quick Launch
* Show the clock
* DON'T hide inactive icons
* Use classic Start menu

Any help is quite appreciated.

RE: System Tray Icons' Tooltip Hidden - Why?

This problem is caused by a bug in Windows that causes the taskbar tool-tips
to lose their "topmost" window style and be covered up by the taskbar.
Microsoft has acknowledged this problem exists
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912650), but has not yet fixed it.

Check out this web site for more information and a permanent fix:
http://tooltipmanager.com

Tool Tip Manager was written specifically to fix this annoying problem by
processing taskbar window messages and resetting the "topmost" window style
for tool-tips as needed, automatically. This program also allows you to
customize the appearance of the task bar tool tips (font & color) and set the
automatic hide timer value.

Try turning off "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows". this fixed it for me.
