ADMT v3.0 ERR3: 7438 no NTUser.DAT file for "user" was found

I am doing an interforest migration and trying to migrate a user from
domain a (source domain) --> domain b (target domain). We are
currently housing profiles using DFS (on a Windows Server 2003 R2
server) on a box named File01 which is in domain a.
When ADMT v3 is ran(translate roaming profile option selected) for a
test user we receive an error like the one below in the log. I am
specifically concerned about is "ERR3: 7438 no NTUser.DAT file for
testuser was found. The roaming profile cannot be migrated"

I will go ahead and reply to something I have stumbled across. The
DFS server resides in the root source domain, the account we are using
the migrate the users reside in a child source domain. I changed the
location of the profile to a share in the child domain and the
migration process worked. The problem is our DFS namespace must
remain as it currently is. So this means I must provide the correct
permissions for the DFS profile shares

Hello John,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, this could be a problem. I'd like to give you the following
possible workarounds:

1. Walking to those machines and changing the registry permissions when
logged on as Administrator and adding the Windows 2003 user w/Full Control
permissions, and then changing the pointer to the Profilelist to the
original location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

and changing the ProfileImagePath entry.

2. You could use the File and Settings Transfer wizard (if you're using
Windows XP) or the User State Migration Tool for Windows 2000/XP clients.
