Backup DNS reformat and then restore

    Hello,

I am in need of reformating a server and it is the primary DNS. Is there a
funtion in Windows Server 2003 that will allow me to backup the DNS's current
configuration and then restore it after the reinstall?

    Thanks for your help

    Joe

    Is it a domain controller?
If it is, is it the only domain controller?
You can use dnsdmp, downloadable from www.reskit.net/scripts to export the
zones to a removable drive, then use it again to import the zones.

    Hello Kevin,
    Never thought anyone replied.

No domain controller just two hosting DNS servers

    Thanks
    Joe

You're just a few months behind. DNSDump is exactly what you need, download
    it from www.reskit.net/scripts

The export command is dnsdump EXPORT <dir>
The import command is dnsdump IMPORT <dir>

Works great I just used it again yesterday.
