Problem with RIS and Broadcom NetXtreme II NIC

Hi everyone

I have a problem installing IBM HS 21 blade servers with RIS. Shortly after
entering the textmode setup RIS comes up with the error:
The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary
drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating system
image. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. Setup
cannot continue. Press any key to exit

The HS 21 uses a Broadcom BCM5708S NetXtreme II GigE NIC. This NIC
apparently uses an advanced chipset and I have followed the descriptions on
Broadcom's and IBM's webpages which describe how to use a Monolithic driver
(a special RIS driver) - with no success.

Also every time I start a new installation I get an error in the event log,
however, I'm not sure whether this is the actual cause of the problem.
"Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BINLSVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1101
Description:
An error occurred during parsing of an INF file netclass.inf in the given
section Manufacturer."

The RIS server is running Windows 2003 (SP1) and works fine with client
machines. The OS I'm deploying is also Windows 2003 (SP1) via an unattended
RIS installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Problem with RIS and Broadcom NetXtreme II NIC

I have been experiencing a similar issue with the HP Compaq dc5750.
The error message is the same and the onboard NIC is a Broadcom NetXtreme
Gigabit Ethernet #2.
One work-around I have discovered is to install another NIC and use a boot
floppy to load the drivers for that NIC and start RIS. This allows the
imaging to proceed. It is a work-around at best as it still requires another
NIC to be installed in every 5750 prior to imaging. I would like to know if
there are any other solutions out there.
