Windows 2003 Hangs, No errors, no dumps

Hello,

I have a Windows 2003 server on a Dell 1850 working as a file/print
server, also running WSUS, being scanned by Symantec Corporate Edition
anti-virus (installed on a different machine), and being dynamically
backed up by Livevault. Every few days, with no discernible pattern,
it will hang to a blank screen, and become totally unresponsive. A
reboot solves the problem. There is nothing suspicious in the error
logs and no memory dumps. The machine is not a domain controller and
not running Exchange. Where would I begin with diagnosing the problem?
Thanks.

RE: Windows 2003 Hangs, No errors, no dumps

I have a similar issue on a Win2003 server running Veritas Replication Exec.
Only difference is that it is configured as a Symantec Server. The same thing
happened on the same domains Exchange server. I am as stumped as you are

Hang

I am having a similar problem, computer running Server 2003 quasi-randomly crashes (usually in the wee hours of the morning) and I arrive to find the screen blank, and will not wake to any amount of mouse jiggling, or key presses (including the 3 finger salute and even the power button). This is on a dell running raid. I am also unable to communicate (ping, rdp, vnc) with the machine, although there is periodic (apparent) disk access.

The only thing I have found is this article describing a similar problem being caused by fragmented files?! Is the filesystem really this bad?

Any input?!
