Volume Shadow Copy Problems

Hi,

I have been searching the newsgroups for a solution to my problem, but
to no avail.

I'm having a problem the the Volume Shadow Copy, and in turn my backups
to a tape drive.

I get a Catastrophic error from creating a volume shadow copy during
the backup, failing the backup.
I believe this is because the Volume Shadow Copy Service is not
running. I have since changed it to Automatic
and tried starting it, receiving this error:

I also get this error when trying to start the Microsoft Software
Shadow Copy Provider service.

I do however have the Com+ service running and on automatic.

And when i try and go to the Shadow Copies tab in the Hard disk
properties, i get
Initialization failed.

Errror 0x80080005: Server execution failed.

Also i presume because the shadow copy service is not started.

I have service pack 1 installed, (tried installing it to fix the
problem, no success), so the hotfix that is floating
around wouldn't be of any use since it is in SP1.

If anyone has any ideas at all on how to fix this, i would be most
appreciative and will try just about anything :)

I'm also having some DNS problems on another server, so if that could
be the problem, i'll try fixing those first :)

Hello

I am also having the same problem. The VSS dispatcher cannot be started and finally I cannot use Backup.

I could not find a solution yet. If you have please let me know?
It would be very helpful.
