| Server 2003 Std Tape Backup Issues
Hi All I have a brand new intel server with a sony internal AIT3 tape drive. When using either ntbackup or the newest version of backupexec with all hotfixes i cannot get a successfull backup. It randomly fails whenever it likes. It will sometimes get to the 2gb mark but most times its anywhere between 500mb to the 1gb point. I have tested the drive with the sony tape utility and it says its fine. It has the latest firmware and drivers. The specific error i am getting is: NTBACKUP: Error: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media. The operation was ended. Backup completed on 14/01/2005 at 10:49 AM. Directories: 426 Files: 7972 Bytes: 1,085,233,930 Time: 8 minutes and 57 seconds Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access. Error: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media. Error: D: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access. Error: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media. BackupEXEC: Backup - D: Storage device "SONY 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media. Error reported: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. Strange this is that yesterday i backuped up each component seperately ie- C drive then D drive and system state in seperate jobs and they worked ? But no longer. Im really out of ideas on this one. Have now applied the Sp1 Rc1 for server 2003 as directed by ms but still no avail. HELP. Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks |
