| Volume Shadow Copy Problem
This has been plaguing me for the past couple of days. I have a 2k3 server with VSS setup on it. It is currently shadow copying the data every hour from a RAID 5 array drive marked d: to a mirrored drive marked e: on the same box. I installed the Shadow copy client services on a Windows 2000 SP4 machine to test if VSS was working on the server. I am trying to accesss VSS from the client machine using a network drive mapping to the shadow copy volume on the server. The previous versions tab is there, but no matter how much I delete no previous version ever show up. I am copying every hour and I have deleted and changed the files and nothing ever shows up. Anyone seen this before. I have looked into the VSS patch, but it warns on installing unless it is addressing your specific issue. Here is some information from the event logs of the Application: Source: ESENT server.svchost (1020) The database engine 5.02.3790.0000 started. Source: ESENT svchost (1020) The database engine stopped. System: Service Control Manager The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the stopped state. I have been told that the starting and stopping is normal operation for VSS, when it performs the operations, but this happens during various time frames. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, |
