Thread: Using Ldifde.exe

    Using Ldifde.exe

    Hi ,
    I would like to use the ldifde.exe utility because it is nice way to
    modify bulk entries in AD, but whenever i run the utility on my command line
    i get an error msg ..... "ldifde.exe' is not recognized as an internal or
    external command,
    operable program or batch file."

    Do i have to install a plug-in to use .. this utility please advise ..

    check the PATH environment variable...
    or, search for ldifde.exe in ur computer to identify its location and its path
    in PATH env variable...

    HI Umesh,
    i did try that before searching for ldifde.exe on my
    computer but i did not find it.
    That is why i posted this question.... what do i need to do now to resolve
    my problem.

    RE: Using Ldifde.exe

    You need to install Support Tools (from Windows server CD) OR Download it
    from MS web site. LDIFDE.EXE tool is included with it.
    You can also copy it from other server and use it...

    Thankx for all your help mate.. but one last question i am
    not anle to find a download of the support tools on the MS website... do u
    have a another link by which i can download it.

    HI Umesh,
    I did try downloading the windows support tools you have
    mentioned but in that you do no have the ldifede utility....

    Any ideas??

    Hi,

    Correct, Ldifde.exe is not in the Win2k3 Support Tools. It is located
    in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder on all Win2k3 servers. Just copy
    the file over to your computer (e.g. to the System32 folder so it is
    in the path).
